Carpet Cleaning

What is our cleaning process?

  1. Vacuum: after carefully moving furniture, we thoroughly vacuum to remove and loosen soil.
  2. Pre-Spot and Edge: Traffic areas and problem spots get particular attention from our special cleaning formulas. We also clean the corners and edges.
  3. Shampoo: A gentle, pH-balanced shampoo is still the best way to loosen even the toughest stains and hidden soil. Most cleaners skip this essential step.
  4. Clear rinse extraction: Every carpet fiber is rinsed with specially treated water in a separate procedure using our own custom-designed equipment. Dirt, grime, and any left-over cleaning agents are rinsed out and sucked away. Thanks to this extra step and our attention to detail, we’re known as Santa Barbara’s premier carpet cleaner.
  5. Brush nap: this final manicuring step helps your carpets dry soft and beautiful. Twenty-four hours later your carpets are ready for company and compliments.

Area Rug Cleaning

Today’s designing trends have led to more hard surface flooring and more area rugs. You’ll need to take special care of your area rugs, and you’ll want to be sure to have them professionally cleaned periodically to protect your investment between once a year (higher traffic areas) and every three years (formal living rooms used for the holidays). Even though your rug may look clean, fine dirt particles settle at the base of the carpeting and act like sandpaper, wearing out the fibers in your rug.
We like to make your area rug cleaning as painless as possible! Included in our pricing is the cost of pick-up and delivery. We’ll even move the furniture that’s on top of the area rug, and reinstall the rug after we’re done with our cleaning. (Or, if you want to save 20%, you can “lug your rug” to our plant, then pick it up when we call you to let you know we’re done with the cleaning.)
So what’s our cleaning process?
First, we’ll “badger”: the Badger is a modern-day rug beater which we run over the back of your rug, knocking all sorts of particles, dust, and other “gunk” out of your rug. Then we vacuum the back side, doing our best to remove dust, pet hair, and other debris. We then flip the rug and look for problem areas. We’ll treat those with the appropriate spot cleaner and spend some time finessing those spots.
Next is our gentle shampoo process, followed by our final rinse, using hot, soft water. We make certain there are no suds or dirt left in your area rug, ensuring that nothing is left behind to act as a magnet for dirt. We’ll dry the rugs with turbo dryers then inspect to see if any areas or fringe need to be touched up. And finally, we’ll manicure your rug, making certain you’ll be pleased with the final result.
Note: if your area rug is an antique, we’ll take different steps to clean it (effective – yes!) yet taking into consideration the delicate nature of your rug.
Disclaimer: We do not fumigate rugs for moths or their eggs. Any latent moth eggs sometimes can survive a cleaning therefore we cannot warranty your rug against moth damage. As well, as all items are handled at customer risk that can be caused by delay, extremes in temperatures, dampness of atmosphere, fire or deterioration of time.
Please Note: We are able to keep your item(s) for 30 days only without a storage charge. Due to our limited space, after 30 days a fee will automatically begin to accrue.

Draperies

Over time your draperies can get dusty and dirty. We are happy to take and remove your window treatments.

    • Drapes
    • Sheers
    • Roman Shades
    • Valances
    • Swags

We’ll bring them to our shop and get them fresh and clean again, then reinstall them in your home. All you need to do is schedule the appointment. Yep, it’s as easy as that!

Please Note: We are able to keep your item(s) for 30 days only without a storage charge. Due to our limited space, after 30 days a fee will automatically begin to accrue.

Upholstery

Upholstery cleaning has become an art and a science. There are literally hundreds of different fabric blends that get stretched and tucked around furniture frames and cushions. Each fabric has a fiber type, finish, dye or print and quality and each requires a slightly different cleaning technique.
That’s where we come in. We’ve made it our business to know just the right cleaning technique to apply in every situation–from chintz to Haitian cotton, from acetates to velvets. We’re also very careful to identify the shrinkers, the bleeders and the faders–and clean accordingly.

We’ll come pick up your upholstered furniture and deliver it back to your home freshly cleaned, or in some cases, we can clean it right there in your home. You can depend on us to safely clean all your upholstered furniture.

Please Note: We are able to keep your item(s) for 30 days only without a storage charge. Due to our limited space, after 30 days a fee will automatically begin to accrue.

Hard Surface Flooring

Coleman’s can assist you in hard surface flooring as well!

Below are our specialities:

    • Stone
    • Terrazzo
    • Tile
    • Linoleum

We’ve got you covered! Not only will we clean your hard surface flooring, but, when appropriate, we’ll reseal the grout too, making it more difficult for dirt to settle in and leave its ugly footprint.

Protectants

It’s not uncommon for carpeting to have a protectant coating when you purchase it. Over time, these products wear off due to:

    • Age and everyday foot traffic
    • Harsh cleaning and spotting agents
    • Deodorizing and disinfecting sprays
    • Ozone and other pollutants

Leaving your carpets unprotected leaves them vulnerable to:

    • Permanent stains
    • Worn-looking traffic areas
    • Spills that won’t clean up easily
    • Soil that clings to carpet

Scotchgard™ Carpet & Rug Protector

    • Triple action protection formula – repels spills, blocks stains and resists soiling
    • Most fresh spills clean up easily with just water
    • Strong stain protection pushes spills away from fibers
    • Limits reappearing spots by neutralizing sticky residue that other spray cleaners leave behind
    • Won’t change the look or feel of carpet and rugs

UV SunBlock™

UV SunBlock™ is designed to help prevent the fading of colors and the degradation that can result when fiber surfaces are exposed to the sun’s damaging ultra-violet rays.

Application

    • Drapes
    • Tapestries
    • Rugs
    • Carpets
    • Patio Furniture
    • Furniture
    • Sheers
    • Clothing
    • Auto Interiors
    • More!

How it Works?

More than just blocking the sun’s ultra-violet rays, UV SunBlock™ actually protects fiber surfaces by absorbing the energy from these damaging rays and then releasing it back out in a harmless form. UV SunBlock™ stops UV rays at the surface, preventing them from reaching the protected surfaces.

ForceField® Fabric Protector

    • Should be re-applied after cleaning, or once a year, to maintain proper level of protection

Repairs

Over time, wear and tear on your carpeting and area rugs calls for additional TLC. And, yep, Coleman’s can help.

    • Some moth damage can be repaired as well

Protect your investment now and extend the life of your rug.

Carpeting Repair:

Patching: Maybe something got spilled (bleach, nail polish, etc.) and you’ve tried everything, from home remedies to The Professionals. Still no luck. With a remnant, we can insert a patch and make it look (almost) like new!

Restretching: Over the years, carpeting gets wrinkles too! But that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to replace it — a simple re-stretching will pull the carpeting taut once again and you’re good to go for another several years.

Reinstalling: Perhaps a pet, over-eager to escape confinement, has pulled up the carpeting at the threshold, or a new slider has been installed and you’re in need of a small re-install. Yes, we do that too!

Deodorizing

Pets, smoke, age, environment. All of these things (and more!) contribute to odors which linger in:

    • Carpeting
    • Area Rugs
    • Upholstery
    • Draperies

Depending upon the source, we have products that chemically react to and remove the offending odors – they don’t just mask it. Some are simple to remove while others require heroic measures. And unfortunately some odors, regardless of what anyone tells you, simply won’t budge. (And, on a final note, please remember that your four-legged family members have a much keener sense of smell and may still smell areas they’ve marked…areas undetected by our merely human noses.)

Ozonator

For particularly stubborn smells, in some cases we can use our ozonator. Ozone is basically tri-oxygen (O3). The third oxygen molecule fastens itself to odors and, voila, removes the smell! While it feels like magic, it’s really just simple chemistry.
